Emergency Fire Exercises at Chernobyl Nuclear Plant
On March 19, a series of tactical fire-fighting exercises were held at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The exercises were part of a routine inspection covering the staff's ability to deal with emergency situations for the protection of the Chernobyl Plant. The exercises were designed to determine the level of training of leaders and personnel of the 2-HRU unit and their interaction with the plant's entities, emergency fire brigades and operational headquarters in dealing with the effects of an emergency. In this case, the exercise was dealing with a transformer fire on the grounds of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

I have been working on this job for the Chornobyl Nuclear Station for a while now and I have yet to hear about this. I have a lot of questions that I would like answered at some point and one of them is where in the hell is Viktor Bruykonov and why was he charged with a crime that he himself did not commit? The other one is how in the world in all of the years that I have been doing this job did another serious accident happen at another nuclear power station and why was it not reported to the proper authorities? There is no excuse for what is going on. Remember what happened to Chornobyl in 1986, the other power plant did the same test and did not suffer as bad although I wonder why I am just hearing about it now. My office here where I live will be working on this for a while or until changes are made, to ensure the safety of the workers that are getting things under control.

Note to guests: As a clarification, I performed an IP whois lookup on the above commenter, and the comment was posted from an IP address registered to the City of Bellingham Library in Lynden, Washington. It was not submitted directly from the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant nor from anywhere in Ukraine.
Since the comment is on topic, I have decided to leave it on the site, at least for now.
